Motorcycle rides Colorado

Located approximately an hour south of Denver, Colorado Springs boasts beautiful countryside for motorcycle riding. Hills, valleys, canyons, and mountains are just a few of the features that motorcyclists can enjoy on their rides in and around Colorado Springs, CO.

Don’t miss out on the glory of Pike’s Peak at sunrise or the opportunity to commune with nature on Trail Ridge Road as it winds through the Rocky Mountain National Park. Before setting out, be sure to research road conditions, as inclement weather or construction can be dangerous for motorcycle riders.

Trail Ridge Road

Enjoy the views of Rocky Mountain National Park on Trail Ridge Road, a scenic stretch of U.S. Hwy 34 through the park just west of the town of Estes Park, CO. See forests, rock formations, mountain views, and more on your ride through one of Colorado’s most beautiful areas.

San Juan Mountain Skyway

Enjoy this scenic loop that includes Ouray, Silverton, Durango, Dolores, and Telluride. Start anywhere on the loop and head in either direction for a day of riding that takes you through the San Juan National Forest and historic towns.

The loop follows U.S. Route 550 between Ouray and Durango, including the famed, cliff-gripping “Million Dollar Highway.” The southern border of the loop traverses US-160 W between Cortez and Durango. The west edge of the loop follows CO-145 from Cortez to the north of Telluride then cuts across to Highway 62 for a 225-mile ride.

Peak to Peak Highway

Make the run between Black Hawk and Estes Park for a scenic 60-mile ride. A winding north-south route will take you over hills and through picturesque old towns. Turn off at numerous campgrounds or parks for photo opportunities or to set up camp for a weekend of riding and wilderness enjoyment.

The Black Canyon Run

This short jaunt around The Black Canyon features a vast range of scenery, from scrub desert to aspen forests. Head west from Sapinero, then follow the curve of Highway 92 north toward Crawford for a short ride of just 35 miles.

Independence Pass

Make the run between Aspen and Twin Lakes by SR-82, including a ride through a few mountain passes. The 45-mile ride will take you through Independence Pass with breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains. The route features lots of places to stop and take pictures of the gorgeous Colorado views.

Pikes Peak Run

Start your ride in Manitou Springs, following US-24 and the signs for Pikes Peak Highway, which will merge into Pikes Peak Toll Road. The toll is well worth the ride to the summit of Pikes Peak, where you’ll see trees, switchbacks, sloping hills, and sheer cliffs.

Be aware, at high altitudes, weather and temperatures can change quickly. Be sure to always bring appropriate clothing for sudden temperature drops if you plan a ride in high altitudes.

Colorado has a fantastic network of major highways and hidden back roads for motorcycle riders to enjoy. Be sure your favorite motorcycle road is safe before you head out on a ride and that you’re prepared in the event of inclement weather, breakdown, or accident.
