Big Sky Motorcycle Rides in Montana

Motorcycle rides in Montana

The Big Sky Country is well known for being one of the best destinations in the world for motorcycle enthusiasts. Combine the breathtaking backdrop with the steep winding roads, and you’ve got the perfect adventure for your next ride.

At Law Tigers, our experienced motorcycle-riding legal team loves bikes as much as you do, so we created a list of our favorite motorcycle rides in Montana. Our team operates across the United States, and therefore, we know a thing or two about all of the country’s scenic roads. We can confidently say that not many routes compare to the ones you will find on this list!

1. Beartooth Pass

The Beartooth Highway is 68 miles long, as high as 12,000 feet above sea level, and easily one of the country’s most dangerous and exhilarating drives. This route is not for the faint of heart and requires constant attention, though with high risk comes high reward. The Beartooth Pass offers steep roads, enchanting pine forests, and views of expansive mountain ranges that will take your breath away.

2. Glacier National Park Loop

If you’re looking for motorcycle rides in Montana that will lead you through the best parts of the rocky mountain range, the Glacier National Park Loop is for you. This route encircles the entire national park and is only open in the summer. Enjoy the 150-mile ride that will take you across the spectacular Going-To-The-Sun Road, Highway 2, and Highway 89.

3. Flathead Lake Loop

Driving your motorcycle along the edge of the lake is an experience like no other. With the 100-mile Flathead Lake Loop, you will come face-to-face with breathtaking views of sunlight and surrounding nature reflecting off the lake. Take your time, stop at some local restaurants or shops along the way, and be sure to snap some photos of the backdrop.

4. Yellowstone National Park

While this ride may not be the most exhilarating or fast, its views are worth the occasional slow-downs. Traffic may build up from the occasional elk crossings or weekday tourists, though the other-worldly geographical landscape will make up for it. This drive can connect you to the Beartooth Pass if you’d like to hit both in one day, or you can head to Grand Teton National Park.

5. Kalispell to Libby Loop

If you’re looking for a one-size-fits-all ride, this loop will take you through nearly 300 miles worth of scenic towns. Beginning in Kalispell, follow Highway 93 through Whitefish and Eureka, then take Highway 37 to Koocanusa Bridge, Yaak, and Kootenai Falls. This scenic byway will lead you through every thrill you can imagine between the rushing waters, quaint town, and the longest bridge in Montana.

6. U.S. Highway 12

This stretch of road winds through the Clearwater and Lochsa Rivers, offering outstanding mountain views, flourishing forests, and enchanting wildlife. You can stop along Highway 12 to camp for the night, where you may encounter eagles, wolves, bears, elk, or moose! Whether camping, hiking, or on your bike, enjoy taking in the crisp, natural air, and surreal atmosphere.
