Rough Landing for JetBlue Passengers

- August 27, 2010

A JetBlue plane arriving in Sacramento experienced a tire blowout, forcing passengers to evacuate the plane on exit slides, officials said.

JetBlue flight 262 was landing at Sacramento International Airport Thursday afternoon when its tires blew out upon contact with the runway, causing a small fire on the runway, according to news reports.

The Airbus A320 was carrying 86 passengers who were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.

A JetBlue Airways spokesperson said that the brakes caught fire when all four of the plane's tires blew during the landing. The plane was scheduled to make a return flight to Long Beach, but that flight was canceled.
