Three adults and one child were killed in a car crash in Slanislaus County, California, on Tuesday, according to police reports.

The crash occurred when a minivan slammed into the side of an SUV at an intersection in Patterson, pushing the SUV into a tree, California Highway Patrol officers said. According to investigators, the van may have caused the crash when it ran a stop sign.

The van's driver was among the four that were killed, along with a man, woman, and child in the SUV.

Another passenger in the SUV suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.
